With the departure of Marvin Harrison, Gonzalez will line up across from Reggie Wayne as Peyton Manning’s number 2 receiver.  After a campaign of 57 catches for 664 yards and 4 TDs, you can expect a HUGE increase in production out of Gonzo.  Sure, they’ve changed offensive coordinators, but how much can you change an already productive attack?

The Colts, and fantasy owners alike, should be licking their chops over Gonzalez this year.

Look for him between rounds 4-8 in your draft as a solid no. 3 receiver to start the season.  If everything works the way it should in Indianapolis this year, he may creep  up towards your starting lineup.

Fantasy Sleepers 2009: Packers Defense

Green Bay could surprise a few people this year with the addition of B.J. Raji to the defensive line as well as the additions of Clay Matthews and Aaron Kampman to the LB corps (Kampman moved to OLB this off-season).

If they can stay healthy (ie  Nick Barnett still questionable for the start of the season) and consistently apply pressure to opposing quarterbacks, the Packer D should be able to create some turnovers and score some solid FF points.

Expect them to draft somewhere in the teens as far as defense/special teams are concerned, but they could in all likelihood finish a top 10 FF defense.

Fantasy Sleepers 2009: Kyle Orton

Kyle Orton throws at Broncos camp. Online photo - no source available.

Kyle Orton has the special luxury of being a sleeper pick this year and an underdog to boot.  No one expected much out of him in Chicago and no one expects stellar QB play out of him now, but in Denver now, he has options and a head coach known for making something out of nothing.

Despite an early injury last season, Orton managed to throw for just over 2,900 yards an 18 touchdowns for a Bears offense that was somewhat lacking in the passing game.  This year he adds the likes of Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal to his arsenal and looks poised to finally eclipse the 3k mark.

With a deep running back corps (Buckhalter, Moreno, Hillis, Jordan, etc, etc), look for the Broncos to play relatively balanced and give Orton the confidence he needs.  He’s not going to be Peyton Manning by any means but expect solid fantasy play (200 pts. in most leagues) and look for him as your number 2 option somewhere between rounds 8 thru 12.  With any luck, under McDaniels watchful eye, he’ll sneak into your number 1 spot halfway thru the season.
